This cruise was AMAZING! We celebrated our 20th Anniversary on this cruise and it couldn't have been more perfect. We had an absolute blast and really appreciated the extra effort Carnival put in to entertain us and educate us on Hawaiian culture during this 2 week journey.
Our favorite event was when they brought on locals in Maui to put on a hula show for us. That was incredible!
On top of Carnival’s usual entertainment there was so much extra:
They brought 2 Hawaiian women on who were with us the majority of the cruise. They held hula lessons, ukulele lessons, lei making classes, a sarong tying class and Hawaiian language classes. These woman were so wonderful! Be sure to get to crafting events very early - supplies are limited
They brought a naturalist on board who did wildlife classes/walks.
There was a daily craft project each morning, a community puzzle, a caricature artist onboard, cooking demos by carnival chefs with recipes provided, a presentation about each port, dance lessons and a throwback Captain’s Gala with free unlimited cocktails and a concert.
We did the Behind the Fun Tour this time and really enjoyed it. It was so fascinating to see the engine room, the galley - with a live watermelon carving presentation, crew dining facility, crew bar, crew deck on the bow, the laundry facilities - where TJ and I got to feed a sheet onto the drying rollers and watch it get folded, and the bridge - with a gorgeous view of the open ocean.
In addition to the extra entertainment, they also had themed specialty menus in the MDR to include Captain’s Gala Dinner, Asian, Mexican, Italian, Spanish and Taste of the World. Having these different options was a real treat compared to the usual rotating menus.
We stayed at the Queen Mary the night before the cruise and had so much fun! We met lots of really nice people who were also going on our cruise, we ate good food and drank delicious drinks, we watched live entertainment and did our own personal ghost tour. The day our ship pulled back in we had time to kill, the Queen Mary gave us a discounted day pass and held our luggage when you present your sign and sail card.
