HILO HAWAII

In Hilo we headed to Hawaiian Style Cafe to try loco moco for the first time.  We've read a lot about this dish and felt obligated to try it.  It was tasty and very filling!

Big Island Candies was across the street from Hawaiian Style Cafe so we went over and got samples of some cookies and coffee.  Their shortbread cookies are SO GOOD, we bought a sample box to bring home.  So far our favorites are the almond and coconut shortbread dipped in chocolate with the Kona coffee shortbread coming in next.
Next we headed to Akaka Falls this was like hiking through a rainforest.  It was so beautiful!!!  Tons of lush greenery and all the trees and plants were so giant!  The water fall is twice the size of Niagara Falls, I couldn't believe how large it was.

Before heading back to the ship we stopped at Keaukaha General Store for some last minute musubi since this was our last port in Hawaii :( This store was right outside the port within walking distance to the ship.

additional things to do: water falls, volcanos, beaches, snorkeling, black sand beach, manta snorkel - this is something I've always wanted to do but because of timing we couldn't squeeze it in
