CAFFE MACCHIATO

To make this drink you will need an espresso maker.  I use an Italian stovetop espresso maker like a Bialetti or Grosche, 4oz espresso glasses and a milk frother.  This recipe will make two cafe coffee macchiato's.

4 teaspoons raw sugar
3 tablespoons ground espresso
2 ounces whole or 2% milk

Put 2 teaspoons raw sugar in each espresso cup.

Prepare 4 ounces of espresso: (below is how I prepare mine but there are other ways depending on what equipment you're using)
In a 3 cup grosche fill the bottom up with water to just under the vent (just slightly over 4 ounces of water).  Place the coffee dish in the grosche and fill with espresso grounds (about 3 tablespoons).  Screw top on grosche and heat over high heat until you can hear the water boiling and steam is rising out of grosche.  Once the boiling stops, espresso is ready.  Pour 2 ounces of espresso into each cup over sugar.

Prepare milk foam:
Pour 2 ounces of milk into a glass jar and heat in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds.  You want to just heat up the milk slightly, if you see bubbles forming on top, take it out.  You will have to find the correct timing for your personal microwave.  Slightly tilt the glass jar and use a milk frother with a gently up and down motion to froth milk for about 1 minute or until it becomes a thick foam.  Use a spoon to add foam to each espresso cup.  How to make milk foam without a milk frother HERE.

Stir espresso before drinking.  I ordered 4" espresso spoons for this which I think are adorable.
