1oz whole vanilla beans (could be anywhere from 7-12 beans)
1 cup vodka
Slice vanilla beans open down the center without cutting all the way through, exposing the seeds inside. Place beans in an 8oz glass jar and fill with 1 cup of vodka. Ensure beans are complete submerged, if not, cut them down until they are.
Secure a lid on the jar and shake once a week.
Feel free to taste and use vanilla along the way but it should be ready in about a year.

After making this batch of vanilla I made another in a 1.75 liter bottle of vodka, that equates to 59 ounces, which is also roughly 7 cups
Then I saw a photo online where someone used mini vodka bottles of extract to give as gifts and I thought this was adorable! 1 vanilla bean per bottle will give you regular strength vanilla and 2 beans per bottle will give you double strength.
