CREME BRULEE FRENCH TOAST


1 stick butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 loaf French bread, stale cut into 1" slices
5 eggs
1 1/2 cups half and half
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon orange extract
pinch salt
cinnamon

In a small sauce pan, melt butter and sugar together until smooth.  Pour caramel sauce onto a greased sheet pan.  Arrange bread slices over sauce.

In a bowl whisk eggs, half and half, syrup, extracts and salt until well combined.  Spoon egg mixture over each slice of bread.  Sprinkle each slice of bread with cinnamon.

Cover with Saran Wrap and keep in refrigerate over night.

Bake at 350Âș for 25 minutes.  Turn each slice and stick under the broiler for about a minute or two, just to caramelize the tops.  

Serve with whipped cream.
