1 ½ cups old fashioned grits (not instant)
3 tablespoons butter
3 cups water
3 cups milk
8 oz smoked gouda, cut into pieces
salt to taste
add butter, water and milk to a pot, bring to a boil over medium/high heat, stirring constantly
once boiling add grits to pot and bring back up to a boil, stirring constantly
reduce heat to low and cook grits for 16-18 minutes, stirring constantly
stir in cheese until melted
salt to taste (takes more than you think)
