CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

My husband and I have each explored Chicago twice, once each separately after we completed Navy Bootcamp and then once together when our oldest daughter completed it!

We stayed at the Navy Lodge Great Lakes, it was clean, cheap and convenient.  I realize this isn't an option for all families but for us, it worked out great!
A few must see places in Chicago are: the Navy Pier (while there be sure to see the Captain on the Helm Statue), Lincoln Park Zoo, Shedd Aquarium and The Bean (cloud gate).
We went to a few different places to eat, one was Twisted Burger - a small diner type burger place that we heard were the best burgers in town.  It was pretty good!  We also tried Portillo's which we heard was a must try while in Chicago.  We were also told that Giordano's Pizza is a must for Chicago deep dish pizza but we did not get a chance to try it.

We walked around Gurnee Mills mall - it was large with lots to see and do and eat!  We enjoyed Dave & Busters, an escape room and the Rainforest Cafe all inside this mall.

We didn't realize until after we left Chicago that the Home Alone house is nearby and definitely would have driven by it, if we had known.  The address is 671 Lincoln Blvd, Winnetka IL
