pruning tips from gardeners path: prune in the summer, allow it to grow to 2/3 desired height but no more than 8-10" from ceiling. Make a cut 6" down from the top of the tree. Propagate your trimming and hope that your trunk branches!
"Notching" is the act of making an incision into the trunk in between two nodes to encourage lateral growth.
