GROWING PEANUTS

You can grow raw (not roasted) peanuts that you buy in the grocery store.  You can remove the nut from the shell or you can just crack the shell and plant them.  They grow pretty quickly.  I like to crack the shell and plant because then sometimes the plant emerges with the shell attached.
Peanut plants need calcium sulfate as a fertilizer.  I am going to try fertilizing with egg shells.
Harvesting: 90-110 days after planting for green boiling peanuts or 130-150 days after planting for roasting peanuts.  Harvest peanuts in the fall when the leaves begin to yellow.  Tips from Gardening Know How
