Circular Knitting Needles: 4.5mm [US 7]
Double Pointed Needles: 4.5mm [US 7]
Place Marker, Yarn Needle
US E Crochet Hook

GAUGE: 18 sts = 4”; 28 rounds = 4”
CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needle to obtain the gauge.

Using Green yarn CO: 80 sts. Place marker for beginning of round and join, being careful not to twist sts. Work in K2, P2 rib for 1 1/2”.

Next Round: Knit around until total length measures 6 3/4”.

Shape Crown:
Round 1: *K6, K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 2: Knit
Round 3: *K5, K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 4: Knit
Round 5: *K4, K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 6: Knit
Round 7: *K3, K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 8: *K2, K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 9: *K1, K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 10: *K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 11: *K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Break yarn leaving a tail for sewing up. Draw through remaining sts.

For Cheeks: (make 2)
Ch 4 with crochet hook using the white yarn for cheeks.
dc 11 st in 4th st; join
ch 3, 2 dc in each st around; join
ch 3, 2 dc in each st around; join
fasten off

For Nose: use green yarn
ch 4
dc 11 in 4th st; join
ch 3, 2 dc in each st around; join
ch 3, 2 dc in each st around; join
ch 3, 2 dc in the next 25 sts
fasten off

For Eye: use white yarn
Join white yarn with a sc to the stitch next to where you fastened off on the nose (you’ll be filling in the rest of that previous row with white)
sc 21 sts, ch 1; turn
sc 21 sts, ch 1; turn
sc2tog, sc until 2 sts remain, sc2tog, ch 1; turn
sc2tog x 2, sc until 4 sts remain, sc2tog x 2, ch 1; turn
sc3tog, sc until 3 sts remain, sc3tog, ch 1; turn
sc3tog, sc until 3 sts remain, sc3tog, ch1; turn
sc across
hdc2tog, dc 2 in each sts until 2 remain, hdc2tog
fasten off

For Pupil: use black yarn (make 2)
ch 5
sc 3, 2 sc in 4th st
sc 4 up the other side; join
fasten off

For light in pupil: use white yarn (make 2)
You can do a french knot on the pupil, or:
ch2, sc 1
fasten off, tie 2 ends together to join

For Nostrils: use black yarn (make 2)
ch 5, sc 4
fasten off

Assembly:

Use yarn needle to sew everything down to look like hat in the photo.
